Separating from a spouse can be very stressful and often leaves a person wondering where to turn. Carson Law Center, P.C. is proud of our divorce process. We strive to make everything as unstressful as possible, and in uncontested divorces, often, you won't even have to appear in Court.
Here is an outline of how the uncontested divorce (where you and your spouse agree to the terms) process works.
- Initial Consultation with an Attorney
- You provide information to us using our easy to use forms.
- Your Divorce Petition and supporting documents are prepared.
- You and your spouse sign and notarize the documents.
- Your documents are filed with the court.
- The judge signs your Divorce Decree in about 45 to 60 days from the day filed
What if my spouse and I are unable to agree?
Often there are issues in a divorce that you and your spouse are unable to settle on your own. This is referred to as a "Contested Divorce." In a Contested Divorce there are Court dates and the process is longer than an Uncontested Divorce.
Lydia Carson has more than 20 years experience negotiating with opposing sides to reach agreements that will please both sides.
